My Diesel Massey Fergusen 240 tractor works for hours and then turns off. I have to purge the fuel system so that it restart. I can not find out where the air enters the system. Any suggestion?
Bleed the fuel system to get it to start again. The second thing to check would be the fuel transfer pump … if it is a diaphragm pump may be by putting air in the fuel system … It would also check the fuel shut-off valve to see if it is partially obstructed or does not work … Check the tank lines, you can have a hole that allows the air inlet but not the fuel output, or a cracked suction tube in the fuel tank … This happens when it is full of fuel or after that the fuel has come down? I found this once in a simulate tractor, it was a supply line of evil to the filter … but check the vents ect .. first.
You may also want to make sure there is no secondary fuel filter on this machine, sometimes you will have a secondary turn in the engine filter … Also check the input side of the water filter / water separator, there may be a screen On the adjustment input side that is obstructed.
